~CHAPTER ONE~
The words filled my head, but I couldn’t bring myself to tell him that I still loved him and needed him.
“Dru.” He muttered as he turned onto his stomach.
I had to face him.
“Yeah?” I whispered as love spilled from that one word.
“I’m sorry.”
For a minute or two, I was a bit confused.
“For what?” I questioned as I wrapped my arm around his well-toned stomach.
He didn’t answer right away. I knew he didn’t want to.
“God Ryan, I still love you.” I thought to myself as I studied his face. I wanted to know what he was thinking, but I couldn’t get passed the happy smile that plastered his face.
“For what?” I repeated, as he didn’t answer.
He looked over at my clock at it read 12:23am.
“Oh Dru, I gotta go. I’ll call you tomorrow.” Ryan whispered as he got up, waved and was on his way.
I heard the front door close and I sat on my bed, thinking about what just happened.
Ryan walked down to his house, cussing himself out the whole way.
“Jesus Christ you fucking pussy, just fucking tell her you dick.” Ryan bellowed to himself as he walk inside his house.
I threw the covers over me and closed my eyes.
In the middle of the night, my eyes snapped opened, as there was a noise downstairs.
Now, usually I wouldn’t be scared of a noise, but I was alone.
So I got up, but when I went to go turn on my light, I stopped and just listened.
I took a deep breath and I grabbed a bat that was beside my bed.
I crept down the stairs and it was coming from the kitchen.
“It’s okay Dru, it’s okay.” I kept repeating to myself as I reached the kitchen door.
I clutched the bat tightly in my hands and I swung the door opened.
“Oh my god… Ryan!” I yelled as he was on the floor.
I had hit him with the bat. I didn’t know who it was!
“Jesus Christ D… ow.” Ryan whined as he got up and held his head.
I held him in my arms and looked at him. I dropped the bat.
“Oh, my God Ryan, what the fuck are you doing here? I’m SO sorry.” I whispered as he hugged me back.
“I wanted to see you, but I didn’t know that I’d get whacked.” Ryan whispered as he looked down at me.
He was always taller than I was… well except in 2nd grade, I was a bit taller than he was, but then he started growing in 5th grade.
I giggled a bit and looked up at him.
“I wanted to work on the rhymes. That’s what I came here for.” Ryan exclaimed as he still held his head.
In his hand, he had the lyric book that we always worked on, when we were still together.
It was like old times in my room, just us and a million ideas written down on paper.
“Why did you say sorry before?” I asked out of nowhere as I finished a verse to a rap that we just worked on.
“Oh, no reason.” Ryan bellowed as he had headphones on and didn’t know how loud he was talking.
I shook my head and smiled.
“Ryan you are so weird sometimes.” I yelled so he could hear me.
He continued to write, so I guess he didn’t hear me.
“Whatever.” I whispered as my eyes closed.
~CHAPTER TWO~
“Dru… wake up, wake up.” Ryan whispered as he lightly shook my shoulder.
I looked up and there he was, looking hotter than ever.
“Hey Dru, you fell asleep. I finished some of the raps.” Ryan informed me.
I looked down and I was just in a pair of shorts and my black bra.
Ryan noticed my stare and he decided to tell me.
“I got you in something better. You kept tossing and turning.”
I smiled and nodded.
The next place I looked was on Ryan.
He was just in blue boxers and he noticed me looking at him… well a part of him.
“It bother you?” Ryan questioned.
I looked up at him and shook my head no as I blushed a bit.
It was different when we were dating, because we’d fuck from morning to night, but right then, it was weird.
Me being in a bra, and him in boxers.
“Fuck I need him.” I thought to myself as I lay on my back, and put my hands under my head.
I bit my lip as to hold back a moan as he lightly climbed over me to lie beside me.
I closed my eyes and hopped he didn’t ask me what was wrong.
“What’s wrong?” He asked.
I knew he’d ask! Uh… why did he have to ask?
I opened my eyes and turned to face him.
“Nothing,” I cooed. “Why?”
He lightly smiled and shook his head.
“No reason, you just seem like something’s on your mind.”
I smiled.
“YEAH! YOU!” I yelled inside my head.
“So, you wanna work on the rhymes, or want me to?” He wondered.
I smiled and nodded slightly.
“Let’s get to work.” I whispered excitedly.
I climbed off my bed and I lay on the floor.
“Pass me a pen?” I asked.
I sat up to grasp it and it was a little awkward as our hands touched for a second or two.
“Thanks.” I mumbled as I took the pen and made a beat in my head, forgetting about our hands.
~CHAPTER THREE~
“Fuck!” Ryan yelled as he slammed the locker beside mine.
“What’s wrong?” I wondered as I lightly closed mine.
Ryan looked down and noticed a big scar.
“What the fuck is that?” Ryan whispered pointing to the scar.
I looked down and covered it with my hand.
“Nothing.” I replied, not wanting to say anymore.
“What happened?” Ryan asked.
I sighed. I knew he wasn’t going to give up. He liked nailing me with questions.
“It was my dad, okay?! He came home last night after you left. He knew you were there and he beat me okay, but you can’t see the bruises.” I explained as I felt Ryan’s clothes against mine.
“Okay, too much hugging.” I whispered, as his grip was tight.
“I should have stayed the whole night.” Ryan exclaimed as he let me go.
~FLASHBACK~
“Bye Ryan.” I whispered as I clutched the freshly made raps that we struggled over.
“Bye Dru.” He whispered back as I closed the front door.
20 minutes later:
“He was here, wasn’t he?” My dad yelled as he came barging into my room.
“What?” I asked as I felt him grabbed me by my hair and yank me outta bed.
“He was here!” He screamed as he threw me against one of my walls.
“Dad, chill.” I whispered.
I looked up and he walked over to me with a knife that was in my room.
He let it slide along my arm and he took it off as he heard me yell out in pain.
“Don’t lie to me Dru. He was here.” He yelled as he looked down on me.
A few more bumps and bruises, and he left again. He was probably fucking some chick in a parking lot.
“If only mom was here.” I whispered as I hopped up to grab a towel to clean up the extra blood.
~AT SCHOOL~
“Oh Dru, I should have been there.” Ryan whispered again as he hugged me lightly this time.
“Ryan, really it’s okay. I’ve been battling him for 5 years.”
Ryan’s face expressions just went emotionless.
“5 years. Your mom…”
“Died.” I whispered as I cut him off.
I didn’t want someone else saying that my mom died. I felt like I had to say it.
I felt like I had to be strong.
“Come on, let’s go.” Ryan exclaimed as he put an arm around me and we walked out into the parking lot.
“Thanks Ryan.” I whispered as he dropped me off on my front porch.
“No problem.” He whispered back as he leaned into claim my lips with his.
We stood there for a few minutes kissing. It was like old times again!
Suddenly the front door swung opened and my dad came out and grabbed me by the back of my hair.
“DRU!” Ryan yelled.
“I’ll be okay!” I yelled back as the door slammed in Ryan’s face.
~CHAPTER 4~
“Hey, you okay?” Ryan asked as I walked into school, 3 days later.
I tried to ignore him and I ended up walking right passed to go to my locker.
“Dru…” He whispered.
I turned around after getting my math book from my locker and I stared into his big chocolate brown eyes.
“What?” I wondered as tears escaped my eyes.
“What happened in there? What did he do to you?” Ryan whispered quietly as 3 football players passed us.
I held my arms over one another and I didn’t want to open my mouth to tell him the horrible and terrible things that happened that night.
He gripped my shoulders tight and looked me right in my eyes.
“Dru, no matter what… I’m always here for you. Remember that, okay?”
I nodded and cried into his shirt.
“It was horrible.” I whispered.
I clutched his shoulders, but he slightly pulled away. I could sense him staring at my wide eyes, but I didn’t look at him.
“What was?” He asked as he rested one hand on head. “What did he do?”
I could tell that he cared for me, but I needed to tell him that I couldn’t stop thinking about him, that I still loved him.
I hesitated. I didn’t want to answer quite then. What was I to do?
“What did he do? Please Dru… talk to me.” Ryan half begged.
“Things went by so fast. All I remember is being thrown into a wall, and then this.” I whispered as I showed him the HUGE bruise on the back on my neck.
“Oh my God, Dru. I’m so sorry. I should have helped you.” Ryan whispered and pulled me into another Ryan like hug.
I always loved his hugs. I felt SO safe when I was in his arms.
“Don’t worry Dru.” Ryan started “Baby, he’ll never hurt you again. I’m here.”
“BABY?” I asked myself as I backed away a little from his grasp.
The bell rang and the day was over.
“Wanna come back to my house? You’ll be safe there.” Ryan whispered as he clutched my sides.
I nodded and we began to walk. We lived across the street from each other and it didn’t take long to walk to and from school.
When we reached Ryan’s house, I looked across the street, and I swore I saw my dad looking out my bedroom window with a knife in his hand with blood dripping down it.
“You okay?” Ryan asked as he looked at the back of my head.
I snapped out of my daze, looked back at Ryan, nodded my head, than looked back at my window.
“Stop freaking out Dru.” I whispered to myself as we walked up to Ryan’s room.
His room had changed a lot, since I last saw it, 4 months ago.
He spent a lot of time at my house, well when my dad wasn’t home.
I looked around and there were a lot of pictures of us, before when we were friends, then when we were dating.
My favorite picture was beside his bed in a picture frame.
It was of me. He kept it, after 4 years, beside his bed!
Ryan caught my gaze and walked over to pick up the frame, with the picture inside.
“Always loved this picture.” Ryan said softly as he looked over at me.
“I still love you Ryan.” I whispered, not realizing.
“What?” Ryan asked, stunned. His jaw almost was touching the ground.
I wanted to slap myself. I didn’t even realize what I said.
“Shit!” I said to myself.
~CHAPTER FIVE~
“You what?” Ryan wondered, as he was still shocked.
“Nothing.” I replied, as I wanted to shoot myself.
Ryan knew what I had said. He just wanted to make sure if it was real or not.
He leaned over and grasped my hand, tightly.
I shuttered and released my hand from his. I didn’t want to repeat what I had said seconds before.
I hopped up and just held myself.
He looked up and quickly walked over to me.
He wrapped himself around my tiny body and we just stood there.
“Ryan I should be…” I tried to say, but he cut me off by his lips.
We stood there, kissing for about 2 minutes, before we both pulled away.
“I can’t Ryan. I gotta be getting home.” I whispered as I grabbed my bag.
I was almost to him bedroom door when I felt his hand on my upper arm.
“Dru, no. You can’t go home. Do you want the same thing to happen to you again? Maybe even worse!” Ryan yelled.
I looked to the ground then up at him and I shook my head no, without speaking.
“Stay here, with me.” Ryan whispered as he pulled me back onto his bed.
We lay there for a few minutes until Ryan got up to grab the lyric book.
“You wanna?” He wondered as he pulled out 2 pens and lay down.
I smiled and took a pen from his jean pocket.
I rested my head on Ryan’s chest and started humming a beat.
Ryan made up some words to go along with the beat that I was humming and in a matter of 5 minutes, we had a song that we swore would be our rap single, when we made it big.
“How many raps we got now?” Ryan wondered.
I sighed and counted in my head.
“About 34.” I whispered as he laughed.
“How would you guess that?” Ryan asked.
I giggled like a little 4-year-old girl.
“I remember these things.” I exclaimed, as I finished half of a rap, which wasn’t thought through.
I studied what I had written and I gasped lightly as I read what I wrote.
Ryan, I know we got it going on.
Our love used to be oh so strong.
But now all we do is chill.
And now I need you to fill-
Me up with the love that I know only you can do.
I groaned and crumpled it up.
“Yo, what was that?” Ryan questioned; looking up from a rap that he was finishing.
“Nothing.” I whispered as I shoved it in my pocket.
Ryan shrugged his shoulders and started freestyling a rhyme about some girl.
After he finished I looked at him and I was kind of crushed.
In his rhyme, he talked about this girl that he was in love with his whole life, and she was so beautiful and all the fucking mushy shit like that.
“Who was the rhyme about?” I wondered not even looking at him anymore.
Ryan sat up and looked at me, but he couldn’t see my face, since the book was in front of my face.
He moved the book and lightly smiled.
“Isn’t it obvious?” He wondered.... to be continued
