Near Miss
- ~*~*~chap. 2 (the first song is called "At Last" by Etta James and the 2nd song is called "Beautiful Disaster" by Kelly Clarkson)~*~*~*~
- At last my love has come along
- My lonely days are over
- And life is like a song
- Ohh yeah yeah
- At last
- the skies above are blue
- My heart was wrapped up in clover
- The night I looked at you
- I found a dream, that I could speak to
- A dream that I can call my own
- I found a thrill to press my cheek to
- A thrill that I have never known
- Ohh yeah yeah…
- You smile, you smile
- oh And then the spell was cast
- And here we are in heaven
- for you are mine....
- At Last
- The audience applauded and Brittany set the mic back on its stand and went out into the crowd to meet her boyfriend, Bryan, her best friend Nicole (Miss USA), and Nate.
- "Great job girl! That was awesome!" Nicole said.
- "Thanks. So are you ever gonna sing tonight?" Brittany asked.
- "Me? Haha. No way."
- "Why not? You have a great voice."
- "I'll probably get up there and only be able to manage a few vowel sounds. You know how I am!!"
- "How about if I go up there and sing, will you go up there too?" Nate interrupted.
- "I don't know...you have to go first!" Nicole said.
- "No. You go first."
- "No way!"
- "Yes way! And if you go first, I promise I'll make it up to you later." Nate said with a devilish smirk on his face.
- With Nicole catching onto the look in his eyes she went up to the stage.
- He drowns in his dreams
An exquisite extreme, I know
He's as damned as he seems
And more heaven than a heart could hold
And if I tried to save him
My whole world could cave in
It just ain't right, it just ain't right
Oh and I don't know
I don't know what he's after
But he's so beautiful
Such a beautiful disaster
And if I could hold on
Through the tears and the laughter
Would it be beautiful?
Or just a beautiful disaster?
He's magic and myth
As strong as what I believe
A tragedy with
More damage than a soul should see
And do I try to change him?
So hard not to blame him
Hold on tight, hold on tight
Oh 'cause I don't know...
I don't know what he's after
But he's so beautiful
Such a beautiful disaster
And if I could hold on
Through the tears and the laughter
Would it be beautiful?
Or just a beautiful disaster?
I'm longing for love and the logical
But he's only happy hysterical
I'm waitin' for some kind of miracle
Waiting so long,
So long
He's soft to the touch
But frayed at the end he breaks
He's never enough
And still he's more than I can take
Oh 'cause I don't know
I don't know what he's after
But he's so beautiful
Such a beautiful disaster
And if I could hold on
Through the tears and the laughter
Would it be beautiful?
Or just a beautiful disaster?
He's beautiful
Such a beautiful disaster
Beautiful
Beautiful disaster- The music ended and Nicole went back to Nathan and her friends.
- But Nate couldn't help but think....that song that she sang...he knew that they were just words...but like...perhaps were they more than just words? Maybe she didn't want to be with him? Maybe she's not ready for a relationship? Maybe she's only dating him to get some good sex? Maybe she's only into him because he's Eminem's brother? Maybe she...
- "Hey baby!" Her voice cut off his train of thought.
- "Hey you! You were great up there!"
- "Thanks. Now...what about how you were gonna make it up to me later?"
- Nate was about to open his mouth for an answer, but then someone screamed, "Hey! Look! It's Nicole Farell!!!! Miss USA!!!" And of course tons of people swarmed her with autographs and lots of cameras were going off.
- Nate grabbed her hand. "C'mon! I know a way out."
- They ran through the crowds and out the back door and hid behind a dumpster.
- "Thanks." She said.
- "No problem."
- "So...umm..." she started to say, while looking around, "I should probably go. My flight leaves early tomorrow. I'll umm...look me up if you're ever in New York." She finished, and got up and started to walk away.
- "Wait!"
- She turned around, "What?"
- "Do you believe in kisses on first dates?"
- She stared at him for a moment, trying to make up her mind to see if he was playing some sort of game.
- "Maybe we shouldn't kiss now. Those crazy people inside will figure out soon that we're out back." She said and walked away.
- Nate watched her leave. And his heart just sunk.
- Damn.
- Then her friend Brittany and her boyfriend Bryan came out.
- "Hey. Where'd she go?" Bryan asked.
- "Probably to her hotel room. Said she needed some sleep and had to get up early for a flight tomorrow."
- "Oh."
- There was a moment of silence before Brittany asked if Nate wanted her number.
- Nate didn't know what to say. She didn't want to kiss him, but yet she told him to keep in touch.
- "Sure. What's her number?" Nate said, finally making up his mind.
- Brittany grabbed a pen and wrote her cell phone number on his hand.
- "Thanks." Nate said.
- "No problem. She really needs a man now. It's been awhile. Especially since her father raped her last summer. She just isn't around men. Never been on a date since that summer. She was telling me earlier how much she liked you. Do her a favor and call her. She really likes you." Brittany said.
- "Wait...go back a few parts? Raped?"
- "Yeah...her father raped her."
- Nate was speechless. No wonder why she wouldn't kiss him. She was scared of men.
- "Me and Bryan are gonna get going. Call her." Brittany said and walked away with her boyfriend.
- Nate just stood there for a while. He went home after and looked at the number on his hand. He grabbed his cell and started dialing...
