She ran from the room with tears blinding her eyes and the slap stinging her cheek. She put her hand up too her battered cheek and a fresh wave of tears fell. She’d thought that they’d been friends but she’d heard the awful things that Gemma was saying about her and when she confronted her, Gemma had the nerve too turn it all around on her like she was the back stabber and then she’d hit her. It hurt...how could she do that? She took the stairs too fast and was halfway down when she lost her footing tumbling the rest of the way down landing on the hard wood floor with a vicious thud and her bright world suddenly faded out....
“TINE” Mandy yelled from the top of the stairs as she saw her friend trip and tumble down the stairs. She was there in an instant. She dropped too her knees and cradled Tine’s head in her trembling arms. “Oh God Tine...open your eyes...say something.” Mandy began too panic as she held her limp friend, her *best* friend, in her arms. “Somebody help...PLEASE” she screamed in the silent hallway. Her voice echoing back at her. She saw someone rush too the top of the stairs and she screamed up at them “call an ambulance...PLEASE...she’s hurt.”
~*~
The trip too the hospital was endless and Tine was unresponsive as the EMT’s fought to help her. Mandy sat white knuckled in the ambulance praying too God that her friend was all right...please let her be all right. They arrived at the hospital and Tine was whisked away in a flurry of motion. Where were they taking her Mandy thought wildly chasing after the stretcher that held her friend but she was shut out as Tine was wheeled into a corridor and the doors tightly closed. Mandy cried out in frustration and fear. She turned and took of for the nurses station....
“Excuse me” she said trying to calm her nerves “my friend was taken back there” she pointed to the closed doors and fought to keep the tears at bay. She needed to be strong for Tine “I need too see her...I need to know if she is ok.”
The nurse came out from behind the nurses station and placed a comforting hand on Mandy’s shoulder “Shhh sweetie” she said soothingly “I will go back and try too find out where they are taking her and I will have a doctor come out and speak with you as soon as possible.”
That wasn’t good enough but that was all Mandy was going to get so she took it. She walked over to the small waiting area and tried too sit but her nerves were frayed and her stomach was in knots. Tine was her best friend, her everything and Gemma had hurt her terribly. She hated Gemma for that. How could she have said those awful things and now Tine was hurt...Mandy was scared. She couldn’t lose her friend. She paced the small waiting room for what seemed like years waiting for someone, anyone too come and tell her what was going on. A doctor finally came out and motioned her over...
“Miss” he said with sympathy plastered all over his face. “Please sit down. I need to speak with you about your friends condition.”
“Is she all right?” Mandy asked desperately. Too nervous too sit. “Please tell me she is all right.”
“We don’t know” the doctor said honestly looking over at her “she took a pretty bad blow to the head and she is in a coma.”
“A coma?” Mandy asked and felt the bile rise too her throat. *Oh God...she can’t be in a coma...please God...NO* she thought as she let the tears that she’d been fighting too hold in finally fall...

Mandy followed the doctor down the cold, intimidating hallway that lead to Tine’s room. She was so scared. The doctor said that Tine needed support. That she needed love to wake up and come back too them and Mandy intended to give her all the love she had inside. The doctor came to Tine’s room and pushed open the door. Mandy followed him in and gasped as she looked over at her friend. So pale lying on that bed.
“Tine” Mandy said going to her and clutching Tine’s limp hand in one of her own. “Oh sweetie” she laid her head against Tine’s shoulder “I love you sis and you’re going to be fine..I know it. You will come back to me...you have too.”
Mandy sat by Tine’s bed for hours whispering words of love. Words of encouragement but nothing seemed to be reaching Tine. She was tired but she refused too give up. She walked out of Tine’s room and headed down the hallway towards the nurse’s station.
“Excuse me” she said too the nurse on duty “may I have a pen, some paper and an envelope.”
The nurse looked at her sadly. Her heart breaking for this young girl who was frightened beyond belief for her friend. “Sure sweetie” she said grabbing the requested items and handing them too her.
Mandy walked back to Tine’s room and sat in the chair leaning on the night stand. She knew someone who might be able too help her friend. She just hope he cared enough to help. She sighed as she began too write...
Dear Marshall,
My name is Mandy. I am a big fan of yours but my friend Tine absolutely adores you. Your music has helped her through so many hard times.
Tine has had an accident and is in a coma and no matter what I say too her she won’t respond and I am scared. I love her and I can’t lose her. She is my best friend, my everything and I would be lost without her.
I know this is a lot to ask but she respects you so very much and I know that if she heard your voice it might help her through this. Maybe you could just call and I could hold the phone to her ear. If you offered her some words of encouragement maybe she would wake up? I don’t know? I am just so lost. I need her.
Please I know that you are busy but PLEASE I beg you..help me, help my friend.
Love,
Mandy
Mandy added her cell phone number, the hospital number and her address before folding up the letter and placing it in the envelope. She called a friend and asked them to find the address so she could mail the letter. Once she had the address she found the nearest mailbox and dropped the letter in. Praying that the infamous *EMINEM* cared enough to help her friend....

Marshall sat with his feet propped up on his desk. He was in New York on business and he missed his Hai Hai but he had to take care of this shit. He leaned his head back and stared at the ceiling. He was so lost in thought that he jumped a mile when Paul rushed in...
“What the fuck?” Marshall complained “damn dawg..you tryin to give me a fuckin heart attack?”
“Read this” Paul said shoving a letter in Marshall’s face.
Marshall read it and frowned when he came too the end. His heart went out too this girl. She obviously loved her friend “It’s sad” Marshall said folding the letter and laying it on his desk.
“I think you should call her” Paul said seriously.
“You do?” Marshall asked skeptical “why?”
“I don’t know?” Paul said sitting down across from Marshall “ it’s just that we never get letters like those...*EMINEM is GOD* and *I wanna FUCK EMINEM* are common but we don’t really get letters like this” he said catching Marshall’s eyes “I feel for her.”
“Aight” Marshall said unfolding the letter and reaching for the phone “I’ll call”
“Call the hospital number” Paul instructed “just so we can make sure it’s legit”
“Aight” he said dialing the number. He got through and was finally transferred through to her room..
“Hello” a young girl answered. She sounded tired and lost and scared Marshall thought as his heart tugged in his chest.
“Mandy?” he asked.
“Yes” she said. The voice sounded familiar but she couldn’t place it “who is this?”
“Eminem” he said laughing “you requested that I call, didn’t you?”
“Eminem” she said standing up “OH MY GOD....you got my letter? Thank you...thank you so much!!”
“How’s Tine?” he asked glancing down at the paper to make sure he got the name right.
“The same” Mandy said defeated fighting to hold back the tears that threatened to fall.
“Well hold the phone up to her ear and let’s see if I can help” Marshall said.
Mandy placed the phone next to Tine’s ear and prayed.
*Hey Tine girl..what’s up? It’s Em and you got us all scared over here, so you gotta wake up and give us a pretty smile. Mandy would feel so much better. She’s really scared for you and it would make my day because I am sitting here at Shady Records working my ass off and if you woke up and smiled it would make this shitty day so much better. So come on girl..give us a smile....*
“OH MY GOD” Mandy yelled clutching the phone to her ear.
“She wake up?” Marshall asked in disbelief.
“N-n-o-o” Mandy stuttered “but...but she moved a little..OH MY GOD she moved her fingers a little and her eyes fluttered. Thank you...thank you so much...Oh God how can I ever repay you...that’s the first time she has moved at all since she fell...thank you.” she was fully crying now clutching the phone and Tine’s hand.
“Hey” Marshall said his heart breaking. He was being impulsive and it always got him in trouble but what the hell “how about I come there and see if I can wake her up in person.”
Paul's eyes bulged when he heard Marshall and shook his head. That impulsive streak was loose again....
“You would do that?” Mandy asked severely touched “for Tine?”
“Of course” Marshall said “how could I deny one of my biggest fans.”
“Oh thank you...this is too much” Mandy blubbered “thank you so much.”
They disconnected and Marshall looked over at Paul “Don’t say anything..I know” he put a hand up to ward off any comments “but this is your fault for bringing me that letter.”
Paul laughed “You better be careful Marshall” Paul said snickering “or words gonna get out that you are nothing but a big softie.”
“Fuck you” Marshall said giving the finger to Paul’s back as he left Marshall’s office.

Tine’s eyes were fully open but she couldn’t move or speak. The doctor’s didn’t know what to make of it. Mandy was worried. She sat through the night holding Tine’s hand and whispering words of encouragement too her but nothing helped. By morning Mandy was so exhausted that she thought she was going to fall over and they’d have too put her in a bed next to Tine. Why couldn’t she move? Why couldn’t she talk? It was all so frustrating. She was on the verge of crying when the door was pushed open and Marshall Mather’s, the infamous and very hot *Mandy noted* Eminem came rushing in....
“Hey” he said smiling “how’s our girl?”
“Ok” Mandy squeaked a bit intimidated now that he was actually here.
Marshall walked over to the girl lying in the bed and peered down at her. She was very pretty. She looked like an angel lying there with her eyes open staring at him. He sat down in the chair next to her bed and grasped her hand “Hey beautiful” he said “you gonna give me that smile now?”
Mandy sat on edge. Praying...hoping against hope that he could reach Tine and pull her back.....
Tine could see him and her heart soared. He had come here. For her..She dug down deep inside and with great effort and much love lightly squeezed his hand and croaked “Marshall” and as Mandy cried and Marshall squeezed her hand tighter she finally did as he asked...Tine gave him that *beautiful* smile...
