Mass chaos erupted in Times Square as Marshall hefted Brianna over the barricades blocking the entrance to TRL’s studio. He carried her through the glass doors. His heart was tripping madly. He squeezed her tighter. Not a word had been spoken since he’d uttered that emotional *YES* but he had a lot to say. He stopped at the nearest chair he could find and sat down with her in his lap. He buried his face in her neck once again and shuttered as he inhaled her sweet scent.

“I love you” he whispered against her neck.

“I love you too” she smiled pulling his face back so she could look into his eyes. “I’m so sorry Marshall”

“Sorry?” he asked puzzled. His chest tightening in fear that maybe she’d changed her mind.

“I’m sorry for walking out” she whispered “for leaving you.”

“Don’t be sorry.” he said releasing the breath he’d been holding “I’d be lying if I said it didn’t hurt but don’t be sorry.”

“I am sorry” she whispered brushing her petal soft lips against his “I was a coward and I hurt you....you didn’t deserve that.”

“In the past” he whispered tears choking his voice.

“God I’ve fallen...hard” she said softly as tears silently fell from her crystal eyes “do you have any idea how much I love you? How much I need you? How much I want you?”

He wiped her tears with shaky fingers “You just proclaimed your love for me on National TV Brianna” he said his voice thick with emotion “never in my life has anyone done something that special for me.”

“So that *yes* still stands” she asked. Her eyes alight with vulnerability. Awash with hope.

“Baby” he whispered capturing her lips “I’ve never wanted anything more in my life.”

“We’re getting married?” she smiled through her tears “really?”

“Damn straight” he smiled back wiping away the last of her tears.

Brianna sat white knuckled as the plane hit another bout of turbulence. If she made it through this flight in one piece she swore to anything holy that she would never step foot on a fucking plane again. Marshall had a show in Las Vegas and he had begged her to come. She had been so busy taking care of little shit so they could start their lives together and she really couldn’t afford to go off trotting around Las Vegas but she loved him and if he wanted her there. She would be there. The plane started making it’s descent and Brianna felt her stomach creep up and lodge itself in her throat. Never again she vowed as she fought back the jitters.

~*~

Marshall paced back and forth wringing his hands together. Everything had to be perfect. Nothing left to chance. Not one detail left unchecked.

“PAUL” he practically attacked as Paul came hustling through the door. “What’s happening? Is everything set?”

“Calm down Marsh” Paul tried to soothe “Her plane just landed. Everything is right on time.”

He relaxed slightly but his nerves were on edge “Where’s 50, Proof, Obie?”

“Marshall” Paul said sternly “you need to relax...everything will be *perfect*.”

Marshall flopped down on the sofa in his hotel suite and tried to do as Paul asked....

~*~

Brianna walked aimlessly through the airport and smiled when she saw a short chubby man toting a sign the read *The Future Mrs. Mathers...your chariot awaits*. The limo driver led them to her *chariot* and as she slid in  he handed her a note from Marshall....

Baby,
I miss you.....I’m swamped with rehearsals so I won’t be able to see you until tonight. We have dinner reservations at 8 with Dre and his wife. It’s sorta formal.
I Love U,
Marshall

**Sorta formal...sorta formal?** What the hell was that? She hadn’t brought anything remotely close to formal. She fretted all the way to the hotel. She knew how special Dre was to Marshall and she didn’t want to embarrass him. What the hell was she going to do? She flung open the door and rushed into their hotel intending to throw herself on the bed and cry when she spotted the most gorgeous dress she had ever seen...there was a note attached and she picked it up with trembling fingers....

Bria,
I figured you didn’t bring anything formal so I got this for you. I hope you like it. I personally think you’ll look stunning...A limo will be waiting out front 7:30...
I Love U,
Marshall

God Bless Him. He was probably the sweetest man alive and he’s all mine she smiled to herself. She looked at her watch...shit 5 o’clock. She jumped into action.....

She stood back and surveyed herself in the hotel mirror. Not bad. Not bad at all she smiled. The dress was FANTASTIC. It was a long form fitting strapless concoction in blood red. The bodice was covered in sparkling rhinestones and the dress went all the way to the floor flaring out at the bottom. It had a makeshift train type thing that dragged the ground behind her. She had on red sling backs covered in rhinestones. Her hair was hanging loose in fat spiraling curls and her make-up was done to perfection from her heavily lined lids to her blood red lips. She placed a shaky hand over her fluttering stomach *you can do this* she chanted over and over in her mind. No need to be nervous. She took a calming breath, grabbed her cute little handbag and made her way downstairs. The limo was waiting out front as promised and she climbed in and sat back for the ride....

~*~

Marshall was back to pacing...it was almost 8 o’clock...show time he thought to himself. He didn’t expect to be this nervous but he couldn’t help himself. What if she got pissed? What if she turned tail and ran? A thousand scenarios were playing out in his mind and it was driving him crazy. ...

“She’s here” Curtis (aka 50 Cent) said coming up behind Marshall “you better get inside.”

“Fuck 50" Marshall said letting out a deep breath “what if she doesn’t go for it?”

“She’ll go for it” Curtis said placing a reassuring hand on Marshall’s back “now get in there before she sees you”

Marshall turned around and headed inside while Curtis stood waiting for the limo carrying Brianna to stop....

~*~

The limo pulled up in front of the *Little White Wedding Chapel* and Brianna felt her nerves kick into overdrive. The limo door was opened and 50 Cent stood with his arm outstretched dressed in a tux.

“OH MY GOD” Brianna said as Curtis helped her out of the limo “what has he done?”

“Guess you’ll just have to wait and see” Curtis said winking at her.

He led her into a small waiting room and her stomach flip flopped as she glanced around. Everything was so *beautiful*....

“It’s so pretty” she said as tears formed making her eyes sparkle.

“He loves you” Curtis said simply “you ready?”

She took a deep breath. This wasn’t how she’d expected it to go down but it didn’t matter. She loved him. She would marry him in the middle of the street if that’s what he wanted...

“Yeah, I’m ready” she said looking up at Curtis.

“You’re a special lady Bria...real special” Curtis smiled as the music started.

The doors opened and he led her slowly down the aisle. She was momentarily taken aback by the larger than life Elvis impersonator that stood off to the side but he was lost to her as she spied Marshall. God, he looks so handsome she smiled. He was dressed in a white tux. Proof stood to his left and Hailie and Libby stood off to his right. Tears threatened to fall as she looked at Libby and Hailie. He hadn’t forgotten them. It was all so much and Brianna’s eyes were burning from unshed tears. She reached the end of the aisle and Curtis placed her hand in Marshall’s...

The minister stepped forward and began to speak....

"Coming together on this special day
A journey you will be taking on life's highway.
Two hearts become one when you pledge your love
In front of family, friends, and God above.

Loving one another comes from the heart
And this is where your marriage really starts.
In many ways your lives will change
and nothing will seem to be the same.

Out of your love children will come
And you will find more joy and then some.
Many years will come and go
And your love for each other will grow and grow."

He turned to Marshall “Marshall please face your bride and repeat after me....."

I, Marshall promise to love and cherish you Brianna, to give you my strength, to help you in good times and bad, to respect our individuality, to make our home one of love and understanding. I give you all of my trust, all of my tomorrow’s, all of my life.

Marshall repeated his vows...never wavering...voice clear...the minister turned toward her... “Brianna please face your groom and repeat after me...”

I, Brianna promise to love and cherish you Marshall, to give you my strength, to help you in good times and bad, to respect our individuality, to make our home one of love and understanding. I give you all of my trust, all of my tomorrow’s, all of my life.

After their vows were repeated the minister spoke...

“Brianna, Marshall has something special that he would like to say to you..”

“Brianna, I never wanted to fall in love again...until the day I met you...” he whispered “I’m not a man of romantic words but for you I will do anything...”

He began to read...

"The vows I take will be forever
I'll love you all my life.
There's no part way, no holding back
Once we are man and wife.
The choice is made, and now I swim
In a far different sea,
The shores of which are bright green hills
Raised up for you and me.
Our love is like a mountainside
Awash in lovely flowers:
It is our home, our solid rock,
Where all bright things are ours.
And though of need we often must
Spend our days apart,
Our love will always be with us,
Held within the heart.
I feel it now, so strong and free,
So part of every breath
That it must live--I swear it will!--
Even after death."

Brianna looked at him through tears of joy as the minister spoke again...

“Marshall and Brianna will now exchange rings but first Marshall has something special that he would like to give his bride...”

Marshall dug down in the pocket and produced a stunning ring. It sparkled and glimmered in the dim light of the chapel..

“Brianna, I know you said that you didn’t need an engagement ring but I needed to give you one...It’s sparkle, it’s zest and it’s shine reminded me of you.” he slipped the ring on her finger

Her eyes misted over again as they turned toward the minister again....

“Marshall and Brianna...I ask you to place a ring on each other’s finger as I recite this verse... **The wedding ring is the outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual bond which unites two loyal hearts in endless love. It is a seal of the vows Marshall and Brianna have made to one another. Bless O God these rings, that Marshall and Brianna, who give them, and who wear them, may ever abide in thy peace. Living together in unity, love and happiness for the rest of their lives**”

After the rings were exchanged the minister looked at them both...

“Marshall and Brianna,  you have vowed  to love one another in holy matrimony and represented these vows with the exchanging of rings. So it is my honor to pronounce you husband and wife. Marshall you may kiss your bride....”

As Marshall captured Brianna’s lips in a mind numbing kiss...Elvis broke into song...

**Love me tender,
love me sweet,
never let me go.
You have made my life complete,
and I love you so.

Love me tender,
love me true,
all my dreams fulfilled.
For my darlin' I love you,
and I always will.
Love me tender,
love me long,
take me to your heart.
For it's there that I belong,
and we'll never part.

Love me tender,
love me dear,
tell me you are mine.
I'll be yours through all the years,
till the end of time.

(When at last my dreams come true
Darling this I know
Happiness will follow you
Everywhere you go)**

Brianna giggled against Marshall’s lips as Elvis serenaded them down the aisle...Red rose petals were thrown at them as they made their way to the limo.

“I love you” she whispered when the limo pulled away from the curb  “I love you so much”

“I love you too” he bent over to place a soft kiss on her rosy lips “Forever...”

~*~

The limo pulled up in front of their hotel and they were ushered into a small beautifully decorated banquet room...

“It’s not much” Marshall whispered “but I wanted you to have something.”

“It’s beautiful baby” she whispered as a tiny tear fell “you’re beautiful.”

Music lightly played as Marshall asked for her hand... “Dance with me?”

She placed her hand in his as he led her onto the floor....

**When no-one else can understand me
When everything I do is wrong
You give me hope and consolation
You give me strength to carry on**

They swayed to the music...he stared in her eyes...alight with love...she was his gift from the heaven’s above...

**And you're always there to lend a hand
In everything I do
That's the wonder
The wonder of you**

He placed a soft kiss on her enchanting lips...breathed in her scent...steeped in her bliss....

**And when you smile the world is brighter
You touch my hand and I'm a king
Your kiss to me is worth a fortune
Your love for me is everything **

A broken sigh escaped his lips...as he stared at his destiny...reveled in his fate....

**I'll guess I'll never know the reason why
You love me like you do
That's the wonder
The wonder of you**

“I give you my life Brianna” he whispered “everything I have I give to you.”

~*~

The reception was short and Brianna smiled at her *husband* as he carried her over the threshhold of the honeymoon suite...

“This wasn’t the room I was in earlier” she said looking around.

“I know” he whispered “that one was temporary...this one will be home for the next few days.”

She looked around at the gorgeous suite and sighed. The heart shaped tub at the center of the room beckoned and she sincerely hoped they would be visiting it before the night was through...

“It’s beautiful...” she whispered.

“You're beautiful” he whispered as they stood facing each other...

**Close your eyes, make a wish
And blow out the candelight
For tonight is just your night
We're gonna celebrate, all through the night
Pour the wine, light the fire
Girl your wish is my command
I submit to your demands
I will do anything, girl you need only ask**

He crossed the distance and stood in front of her.... His breathing shallow as he gazed into the ocean of her eyes....So expressive....So beautiful....Alight with love....Alive with passion.....He ran his hand over her face and her eyes fluttered closed.....

**I'll make love to you
Like you want me to
And I'll hold you tight
Baby all through the night
I'll make love to you
When you want me to
And I will not let go
'Till you tell me to**

He ran his hands down her neck and over her collar bone...stopping to mingle at her breasts...she shivered at his touch...his hands continued lower...grasping her hips...he pulled her against him...settling his lips over hers...his tongue invading her mouth....

**Girl relax, let's go slow
I ain't got nowhere to go
I'm just gonna concentrate on you
Girl are you ready, it's gonna be a long night
Throw your clothes on the floor
I'm gonna take my clothes off too
I made plans to be with you
Girl whatever you ask me, you know, I will do**

Her breath sped up as his tongue dueled with hers and he pushed his erection against her throbbing center...his hand snaked around her back to release her zipper and she shuddered as his fingertips brushed her soft skin....her dress fell to pool at her feet...he released the clasp of her brassiere and it too landed at her feet...he tore away from her sweet lips and bent down to lightly flick her nipple...she moaned and pulled his head closer to her breast...while he ran his magical tongue over her rosy nipples she pushed off his jacket and fumbled with the buttons of his dress shirt ...her hands were trembling with need as she unclasped the button of his pants and pushed down the zipper... she pushed his pants and boxers down around his ankles and he stood in front of her gloriously naked...

“I love you” she whispered running her hands along his heated flesh “all of you” she grasped his manhood in her trembling hands and he moaned....

**I'll make love to you
Like you want me to
And I'll hold you tight
Baby all through the night
I'll make love to you
When you want me to
And I will not let go
'Till you tell me to**

“Baby” he whispered as she stroked him “it scares me this power you have over me.”

“Don’t be afraid” she whispered “I’ll never hurt you again.”

He ran his hands over her hips grasping her panties pulling them down to expose her feminine treasures.

“God you are beautiful” he bent forward to whisper against her lips.

**Baby tonight is your night
And I will do you right
Just make a wish on your night
Anything that you ask
I will give you the love of your life**

“I want you” she whispered “all of you”

He picked her up and carried her over to the bed lightly placing her in the center. Her gorgeous mane of fiery hair cascaded all around her. Her rosy nipples hardened for him. Her feminine core wet and ready to receive him. It was all too much...

“Beautiful...you’re so fucking beautiful” he chanted as she spread her heavenly thighs for him and he settled himself between them...

**I'll make love to you
Like you want me to
And I'll hold you tight
Baby all through the night
I'll make love to you
When you want me to
And I will not let go
'Till you tell me to**

He pushed into her torturously slow and she cried out in ecstasy. Gripping his forearms as he slowly thrust in and out of her.

“Marshall” she cried out in pleasure “you feel so good baby”

He grunted as he continued his thrusts. His skin was on fire. He was burning alive. She felt so good wrapped tightly around him. If he died now he would die a happy man having experienced her power...her magic...her love.

He could feel her tightening around him as her muscles convulsed and it was heaven “I’m gonna cum baby” he whispered “too good..you feel too good..right..you feel so right.”

“Let go” she whispered as her orgasm ripped through her “just let go”

And he did with one final thrust he let go.....

Chapter 12

Marshall stood taking her in. She was the most gorgeous thing he’d ever seen standing there wrapped in nothing but a towel. Her wild red hair dripping rivulets of water over her creamy shoulders.

“Come here” he whispered and motioned her over with the crook of his finger.

Lust ran like a river wild and free in her eyes. He was so fucking *beautiful* she thought wildly. Standing naked in all his glory. Her body trembled with desire as she slowly made her way across the room.

“I want you” he whispered when she reached him and his skillful hands reached out to loosen the towel. It feel to the floor and she kicked it away.

“Take me” she whispered stepping into him. Moaning as flesh met flesh..

**Uh ~ Can you feel me baby
Ooh ~ Ooh
Yeah ~ Yeah ~ Yeah
Oooh ~ Oh yeah
Listen**

His lips imprisoned hers sending waves of pleasure through her ripe body. She wanted him. She needed him. NOW.

“Take me Marshall” she pleaded with him “fuck me now” her hands were wild. She reached for his throbbing erection and he groaned “I need to feel you inside me.”

**It's givin me a chill
Every time I think
About the love we make
It makes my heart sink
Deep into my soul
Everywhere I go
I'm always thinkin of
When we make love**

He dropped to his knees pulling her down with him until they were kneeling  face to face.

He ran his hands over her breasts and her hardened nipples throbbed. “Marshall please” she begged “I need you”

He took one of her nipples into his mouth lightly scraping it with his teeth as he pushed her onto her back on the floor of their honeymoon suite. He laid half over her and she could feel his erection hot and pulsing against her leg. She moaned reaching for it. Stroking it with her delicate hand.

**Wanna go back to the day
When I touched ya girl in every way
Gotta take the chance to hear ya say
That you want me girl
Girl you know you rock my world**

“Fuck Marshall” she panted stoking him. He parted her thighs and pushed two fingers into her. Her back arched off the floor at the sweet intrusion “I can’t wait much longer” she moaned as he worked her, brushing him thumb roughly over her distended clit.

He felt her body tense and begin to shudder. She was on the precipice of fulfillment  “That’s it baby” he panted. Her hand wrapped snugly around his dick felt good. Too good. “Let go baby. Just let go”

Her body bucked and she cried out while her orgasm assaulted her body. The sensations were overwhelming.

**I can't eat can't sleep
You know that it's unnatural
Oh ~ Oh
What you do to me
You know that it's so sexual
Oh ~ Oh**

He spread her thighs and plunged into her while her body continued to pulse wildly around him.

“Fuck” she screamed out as the never ending orgasm continued to rip through her “feels good baby. Feels so fucking good.”

He grunted plunging in and out of her as if being inside her was the only thing keeping him alive “So tight. So warm.” he moaned “So wet. So right. Baby you feel so right.”

**What's come over me
Never thought that love could be so addicting
The feelin hurts so bad it makes my body weak
I can taste you even when you're not with me
Look what you've done to me**

“I wanna feel you” she whispered “cum inside me Marshall.”

He grunted as his body jerked and he came spilling himself inside of her. “I love you” he panted while he continued to spasm inside her heavenly body “I love you so fucking much.”

“I love you too” she moaned as the feeling of his sticky hot cum filling her core pushed her into madness once again.

**Whoa
Ooh ~ Ooh
Baby
You are the only girl
I want ya in my world
You're where I want to beEverything I need**

He collapsed his weight pushing her back into the hard floor but she didn’t care. She loved the feel of his skin on hers. This was the last night of their honeymoon. Tomorrow they had to go home and she wanted to remember this night forever...

~*~

*Tumultuous* that was the word that came to Brianna’s mind as she lugged the last of her suitcases into Marshall’s...no, not Marshall’s...*their*...their bedroom she mentally corrected herself. She dropped the suitcases at the foot of the bed and fell back onto the soft mattress. It had taken *forever*  it seemed to sell her house and get all her shit over here but this was the last of it. She now *officially* lived here. Her mind wandered Back to the tumultuous part. Their relationship *err* marriage was so full of disorder it would drive a saint into a life of sin but she loved him so she would make this *crazy* thing they had between them work if it killed them both. They barely knew each other and they were married. She blissfully sighed as her mind drifted back to 10 crazy weeks ago when they had become husband and wife. Her skin heated as she thought about those mind numbing, earth shattering nights spent in his arms in a hotel suite in Vegas and she laughed remembering how he’d pouted like a baby as she drug him from casino to casino. It had been like a dream and she’d never wanted to wake up. This happy little euphoria of theirs left her feeling nervous and edgy. They’d fallen for each other fast and hard and she woke up everyday with a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach that something was going to swoop in and take it all away....

~*~

Brianna woke up feeling out of sorts. She was weak, tired and crampy as she trudged down the stairs and headed toward the kitchen to make the girls breakfast before she took them to school.

“Morning Mommy” Libby practically sang as she burst into the kitchen a ball of energy.

“Morning” Brianna grumpily replied.

“You aight ma?” Libby asked becoming concerned as she noticed her mother’s pale face.

Brianna turned to look at her daughter and laughed “aight?” she questioned with a raised eyebrow “I see you’ve been hanging around Marshall a bit too much” she laughed “and yes sweetie I”m ok.”

“GOOD MORNING” Hailie squealed cheerfully as she bounded into the room.

“What’s with all the cheerfulness this morning?” Brianna asked sitting their breakfast in front of them.

“It’s a beautiful day” Hailie said in a sing song voice “it’s Friday and daddy’s coming home.”

“I miss him” Libby smiled “it’ll be nice to have him back.”

“Yeah, it will” Brianna said wistfully while the girls scarfed down their breakfast.

After their breakfast was eaten, their teeth brushed and their wardrobe’s were in place Brianna ushered them out the door and into the car. She drove them to school. Exchanged hugs and kisses and hurried home. She pulled into the driveway and sat there for a minute letting the cool air from the air conditioner hit her face while she fought to catch her breath. Something was wrong. She shook her head to clear the dizziness and opened the car slowly getting out. She walked toward the front door on week limbs and alarm swept over her as she felt something drizzle down her legs. She took off for the house. She struggled with the door but managed to get it open. She burst in and made it as far as their bedroom before she collapsed....

~*~

Marshall had never been so happy to be on solid ground in his life. The plane ride had been hell but he was home. He smiled at the sound of that...*home*. He finally felt like he had one, a real home. He wanted nothing more than to see his beautiful wife. He still got giddy when he used that word...*wife*. She was so fucking beautiful and sweet and loving and real. *Real*...That was what he loved most about her. She was just so fucking real. Her lust for simplicity amazed him. She could have anything she wanted. He’d give it to her without a second thought but all she wanted was simplicity. His love. His devotion. His trust and she had it *all* in spades. He went to stick his key in the lock and noticed that the front door wasn’t locked. He twisted the knob and entered the foyer. The house was *quiet*, too quiet he thought. He knew that Hailie and Libby were at school but Brianna was here. Her car was in the driveway.  He set his bags down and stepped into the family room. The quiet was bothering him. It was eery. Something felt not quite right. He headed to the kitchen. Nobody. Where the hell was she? And why the fuck was it so quiet? He searched the whole fucking downstairs with no luck. Maybe she was taking a nap. He took the stairs two at a time and bursted into their bedroom. He narrowly missed tripping over her limp form laying just inside the doorway. His stomach roiled and his heart flipped over in his chest when he spotted her. He dropped to his knees and gathered her in his arms. Blood. There was so much blood. It stained the carpet around her. He blanked out for a minute. His body trembling badly as he rocked her. He looked down at her pale face and jolted back into reality with a start...

“Oh God baby” he whispered as tears ran down his face “wake up Bria. PLEASE wake up. Talk to me.”

“Marshall” she whispered softly.

It was barely audible but he heard it. His eyes snapped to hers. Locking in “Bria”

“Marshall, I’m scared” she whispered her eyes welling with tears “I’m so scared.”

“It’s ok baby” he tried to reassure but he was terrified. He fumbled for his phone. His hands shook so bad that he dropped it a few times before he got a steady grip on it. He dialed 911.

“911 Emergency” a voice droned on the other end “please state your emergency”

“My..my wife” he stuttered “there’s something wrong with my wife.”

“Sir, I need you to tell me what happened” the voice stated.

“I..I d-d-don’t know” he said his voice shaky “I came home and found her collapsed in our bedroom “and blood...t-t-there’s so much blood.”

“Ok Sir I need you to calm down” the voice said calmly “is your wife unconscious?”

“N-n-o” he said on a sob “she’s awake barely. Please..” he trailed off.

“Ok Sir” the voice said sympathetically “we’ve tracked your location and the paramedics are in route. Please stay calm.”

“Ok” he said trying to pull himself together.

“Would you like me to stay on the phone with you Sir until the paramedics get there?” the voice asked gently.

“No” Marshall said "just please hurry...hurry...I can’t lose her”

He disconnected and pulled Brianna closer to his heart while they waited for the paramedics....

It seemed to take forever for the paramedics to arrive. Once they made it up the stairs they hustled her onto a stretcher and carried her down the stairs and shoved her into the back of an ambulance without a word. She was so weak that she could barely keep her eyes open and he was fucking scared too death. His temper was on edge, his nerves were frazzled and he was at his breaking point. He climbed into the back of the ambulance daring anyone to question his presence. No one did. The ride to the hospital was like a blur and Marshall sat numb clutching her hand as the sirens blared. Why? He asked himself. Why was this happening? What was happening? He wanted to scream and yell. Rant and rave. His vision was becoming hazy. Anger was starting to take over. He concentrated on breathing. He couldn’t be angry now. He needed to be strong for her, his love. He looked over at her and his face softened. How had it happened? How had he fallen for her so fast? They barely met much less started their life together and he couldn’t imagine living without her. He couldn’t do it. He wouldn’t do it. His grasp on her hand tightened and he did something he hadn’t done in years. He prayed...

~*~

The ER staff swooped her away and refused to let him go with her. He was shaking with rage, hurt, terror. He needed to be with her. He needed to know that she was all right.

“Excuse me” he said to the nurse sitting behind the triage desk “my last name is Mather’s and they just brought my wife in...”

“Yes sir” she cut him off “I know who you are.”

“That’s great” he snapped “I’m so happy you know who I am” he took a deep breath and started again “Look I didn’t mean to snap at you but I need to see my wife”

“I understand Marshall” she said using his name “but the doctor’s are trying to do their job. I promise as soon as they know what happened I will personally let you know.”

“Thank you” he said defeated. He walked over and sat in one of the uncomfortable waiting room chairs but he couldn’t sit still so he started to pace. He was wearing a hole in the carpet when he remembered the kids. “FUCK” he muttered a little too loudly. He was already getting stares and a couple of young girls had already tried talking to him. He’d had to have hospital security ask them to leave him alone before things got ugly. He was too worked up to deal with obsessive fans. He pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and dialed Proof.

“Yo” Proof answered.

“Hey can you pick the girls up from school and take them home?” Marshall asked.

“Sure dawg” Proof said “what’s up? You sound a bit tense.”

“I’m scared Proof” Marshall muttered letting the tears fall again “I’m so fucking scared.”

“Marsh what happened?” Proof sat up and clutched the phone. Nothing other than the thought of losing his baby girl scared Marshall “you aight?”

“No Marshall” said defeated “it’s Bria. We’re at the hospital. I came home from New York and found her passed out in our room and there was blood and fuck Proof I can’t lose her dawg I can’t”

“Shit Marsh I’ma come there” Proof said.

“I need someone to pick up the girls” Marshall said again.

“I’ll have Obie do it” Proof chuckled trying to lighten the mood “he’ll love that”

“Aight” Marshall muttered “thanks man.”

“Anytime” Proof said “you know that.”

Proof came running into the ER less than 15 minutes later and the silly bitches who were bothering Marshall earlier gasped. Marshall glared at them. The stupid bitches probably expected all of D12 to assemble and give them a private show.

“What’s goin on?” Proof asked.

“Dunno?” Marshall said “they haven’t told me anything”

Proof was about to say something when the nurse interrupted “Marshall” she said gently “the doctor would like to speak with you in private.”

“He’s coming with me” Marshall said in his no questions asked tone.

“Whatever you like” she smiled sweetly leading them to a private room.

The doctor was sitting in there already, furiously scribbling on a clipboard “Mr. Mather’s” he said coming to his feet and extending his hand.

Marshall grasped his hand and quickly shook it “What happened?” he asked cutting to the point “where is Brianna? I want to see her.”

“Please sit down Mr. Mather’s” the doctor asked.

“I don’t want to sit” he said getting impatient “please just tell me what’s going on”

Realizing that Marshall didn’t want all the nice, gentle words the doctor got straight to the point “Well Mr. Mather’s, your wife has suffered a miscarriage.”

The words pummeled Marshall like an angry club beating at his insides. He dropped and sunk down in the chair holding his head in his hands. A baby. They had created a baby and *lost* it. The hurt was too much. He began to sob...

Chapter 13

Brianna sat still as a stone. Her limbs failed her. Her voice had gone silent. The only thing left to prove that she was still on this earth, still breathing this air were the silent tears that tracked down her pale cheeks...

**It was only one hour ago
It was all so different then
Nothing yet has really sunk in
Looks like it always did
This flesh and bone
is just the way that we are tied in
But there’s no one home
I grieve...... for you
You leave....... me
So hard to move on
Still loving what’s gone
They say life carries on
Carries on and on and on and on **

She clutched her belly and a fresh wave of tears formed, clouding her vision. A baby..she shuddered. They had told her she lost a baby. Her baby. Their baby. An innocent life that had been created in love and brutally ripped away. Her body shuddered. The first real movement her frozen limbs had felt in hours. Why? The question kept bouncing around in her head...why? Was it her fault? Had she done something wrong? She clutched the bed sheets tightly in her palms. Why? The question wouldn’t go away. Wouldn’t leave her alone. It assaulted her mind and tortured her soul...why?

**The news that truly shocks
is the empty, empty page
While the final rattle rocks
it’s empty, empty cage
and I can’t handle this
I grieve....... for you
You leave....... me
Let it out and move on
Missing what’s gone
They say life carries on
They say life carries on and on and on**

She saw the looks of pity. The looks of remorse. They *all* wore them on their faces like masks. They moved around her bed tossing those pitying looks at her. She wanted to scream. Yell. Hit. Kick. *Feel*. That’s what she wanted most...she desperately wanted to feel something besides the dull empty ache that sat like a ton of bricks in the pit of her stomach. Why? There it was again. The question that tortured her. She saw him...*Marshall*...her *love*...the man who had inevitably became her *life*. She tried to fight it, fight him but he wouldn’t allow it so she’d let him in her heart, in her soul. He wanted to comfort her. After all he’d lost something too but she couldn’t let him in. The pain was too intense, too raw. She saw him through her tear stained eyes and it twisted her heart..he was hurting too...

**Life carries on in the people I meet
In everyone that’s out on the street
In all the dogs and cats
In the flies and rats
In the rot and the rust
In the ashes and the dust
Life carries on and on and on and on
Life carries on and on and on
Life carries on and on and on and on
Life carries on and on and on
Just the car that we ride in
The home we reside in
The face that we hide in
The way we are tied in
As life carries on and on and on and on
Life carries on and on and on**

She feigned sleep. It was the easiest way. She needed to escape from this place. This *cold*lonely*isolated* place she was in. She wanted them all to leave. Leave her alone. She wanted to mourn in peace. She wanted to wipe the remorseful looks from their faces. She didn’t need their pity. She didn’t need *his* pity. She’d done this. Couldn’t he see? She hadn’t been strong enough, woman enough and it cost them *their* child. She couldn’t accept his pity. Couldn’t accept his love. She didn’t deserve it...

**Did I dream this belief
or did I believe this dream?
Now I will find relief
I grieve**

No words had been spoken between them. He’d tried to comfort her but she’d refused to accept it. She’d remained mute and though she knew it was killing him to her it was the only way. She couldn’t abolish this guilt that was trapped inside of her. It wouldn’t cease. Her only choice was to get away. She had to get away. She couldn’t deal with it. When she’d lost Devin she’d felt a pain so deep she didn’t think she’d ever recover but nothing compared to this emptiness and guilt that now wracked her body. He’d be coming to get her soon. They were letting her out of this cold, dreary place. They were letting her go home but she couldn’t go home. She didn’t know if she could ever go home again...

Marshall stabbed the button for the elevator and waited patiently for the doors to slide open. He was lost and confused. He wanted so badly to gather Brianna in his arms and hold her. *Just*hold*her* but she wouldn’t let him. She wouldn’t even speak to him. Her silence was killing him. He understood that she was hurting but dammit he was hurting too. The doctor’s had said that there were some complications surrounding the miscarriage that seriously decreased the chances of them being able to carry a baby to full term. Brianna had sat unmoved through the doctor’s speech but he’d seen the hurt wash over her face and cloud her eyes. He’d wanted to reach out to her. Lover her. God he wanted nothing more than to *just*love*her but she wouldn’t let him in. He felt useless and alone. His head snapped up as the elevator dinged and the doors quietly slid open. He punched the button for her floor and rode up in silence...

He quietly pushed the door to her room open and peered inside. His heart sank. She was gone. There was a note propped up against the water pitcher on the night stand...

Marshall -

I know in my heart that you are hurting too but I can’t seem to escape this guilt. It was tragic enough to lose your baby but now I know I will never be able to feel your child growing inside of me. It hurts so fucking much, too much. I had to get away, so I ran, again. I love you Marshall, God, I do, so fucking much . I want you to hold me and comfort me and love me but I just can’t get past the guilt. I lost our baby, I did. I LOST our child and I can’t forgive myself for it so how can you?

Brianna

His sharp intake of breath echoed through his ears. She blamed herself? Why? Why would she blame herself? It all started to click into place. He needed to find her, now. He needed to talk to her. ‘Oh baby’ he whispered clutching the letter to his heart ‘this wasn’t your fault’. He took a moment to compose himself. He was feeling raw already and her letter had cut him to the bone. How had he missed the guilt? He wanted to kick himself for that but he had no time for that shit right now. Right now he needed to find her...

Marshall pulled up in front of McDonald’s and smiled as the memories of their first encounter fluttered through his mind. It was crazy but somehow he knew she’d be here. He got out of the car and made his way inside. He spotted her sitting alone and he slid into the booth beside her laying his head on her shoulder.

“How did you know I’d be here?” she asked quietly bringing her hand up to caress his face.

“Thinking about you makes me hungry, I guess” he smiled kissing her fingers as she trailed them over his lips.

“Why did you come here?” she asked searching his eyes.

“Because I love you” he whispered simply.

“Marshall” she turned her face averting her eyes.

“No” he said with force. He grabbed her face and forced her eyes to meet his “I won’t let you do this. I won’t. We are in this together Brianna. *Together*!”

“But I...”

He silenced her with his lips. Rubbing them softly against hers “No” he whispered again “Stop this Bria. Stop”

“I can’t Marshall” she whispered against his lips “I can’t get past it. *I* lost our baby.”

“You didn’t know Brianna” he stared into her eyes. He had to make her see “it wasn’t your fault. You didn’t do anything wrong baby. You didn’t do *anything*wrong*”

“*I* lost our b-b-baby” she stuttered as she buried her face in his neck and let the tears come.

He held her tightly in the small booth “Shhhh baby” he whispered against her hair “I love you, I love you so much. We can get through this Brianna. Together baby, together we can get through this.”

“I want to feel your child growing inside me and I never will. It hurts Marshall.” she cried.

“I know it hurts baby.” he whispered. He was aching inside. Aching for the both of them

“Why?” she asked backing up to look at him through tear ravaged eyes “why?”

“I don’t know baby” he whispered “I don’t know but it doesn’t change how much I love you. The things you make me feel.”

“How can it not?” she asked desperately “I feel like half of a woman Marshall don’t you see. I can never give you a child. How can you still love me?”

“Brianna, I love you for the woman that you are and the things that I feel when I’m with you, when I think about you and if we never have a child together my love for you won’t change” he said simply “but if you want a baby then I will spend every dime I have to try and make that happen.”

“But they said..”

“That it would be difficult baby but *NOT*IMPOSSIBLE*” he finished for her.

“I want your child Marshall” she whispered “I know it’s unreasonable and you probably don’t understand but I love you and I want to have your baby. I want that so bad. This marriage is so new and we have never talked about children but the pain I felt when I found out that I lost our baby was too much to bare and then it was like a slap in the face when they told me that I'd probably never be able to have your baby. It killed me Marshall. It killed my spirit.”

“I understand” he said. His voice thick with emotion. A tiny tear escaping his crystal eyes to track down his cheek. "It hurt me too"

She caught his tear on the tip of her fingertip and rubbed the moisture into her skin. “I love you” she whispered leaning in to kiss him “I’m sorry I shut you out.”

“Don’t do it again” he whispered “please don’t do it again.”

“I won’t” she whispered against his lips “I promise.”

They sat together in that tiny booth. Comforting each other. Healing each other. Lost in each other’s embrace. Oblivious to anything but the love they felt for one another...
