A Christmas To Remember

Author's Note:
this is in response to Christine's Christmas Challenge and also for all those *wonderful ladies* who I promised a few Chance Encounters short fics.

It was Christmas Eve and Kamryn stood with a look of pure horror stamped all over her face as she surveyed herself in the full length mirror. It was useless she thought miserably and walked over to exaggeratedly plop down on the edge of the bed. She had tried every outfit in that fucking closet and *nothing* absolutely *nothing* she had hid her swollen body. She cursed as she struggled to get to her feet. This pregnancy was certainly going to be the death of her. She managed to make it to her feet and waddled over to the mirror for one last look before heading downstairs. She could hear the kids laughter echo through the house as she hit the bottom of the stairs and she smiled at the beautiful sound. She turned the corner heading for the kitchen and inwardly laughed as she heard the *show down* already in progress.

“Look you dumbfuck” Christie said snatching a block of cheese from Marshall “you can’t even cut a piece of cheese without fucking it up.”

“Bite me” he sneered at her yanking the block of cheese back “it’s you who cooks shit that’s not fit to feed a fucking dog.”

Christie smacked him across the side of the head “Watch it asshole” she glared at him “I don’t know who shoved that stick up your ass but after I implant my foot up there too that stick’ll be shooting out through your fucking nose you big baby.”

Kamryn laughed as she entered the kitchen and Marshall turned his icy stare on her “Sorry” she muttered.

“Don’t apologize to this stupid fuck” Christie said giving Marshall the bird “he can’t even cut a fucking piece of cheese.”

Kamryn snorted out a laugh “Naughty, naughty” Kamryn taunted as she turned back towards the hallway “Santa only brings presents to good little boys and girls.”

Both sets of eyes glared holes in her back as she disappeared from view. She wasn’t halfway down the hall when she heard them start in on each other again. She shook her head. Those two were just too much.

Flames danced merrily in the fireplace as Kamryn set out a couple trays full of snacks. Somehow Christie and Marshall had managed to get through preparing the rest of the snacks without killing each other. The lights from the tree twinkled like diamonds and the sparkling tinsel gave it a snowy look. She sighed as she stared at the beautiful sight. She heard the pitter patter of little feet in the hallway and before she knew it Hailie and Hunter came dashing through the family room.

“Is it time yet?” Hailie demanded

“Nope” Kamryn said smiling

“Come on mom” Hunter pouted “you’ve made us wait all day.”

“And you’ll have to wait a bit longer” she smiled ruffling his hair.

“What’s all the ruckus about?” Marshall asked as he entered the family room.

He is so damn sexy Kamryn thought taking him in and sighed. It amazed her every time she laid eyes on him that he actually belonged to her. “Presents” Kamryn said smiling at her husband.

“Awwww I see” Marshall smiled “Someones getting a little impatient” he said as he looked over at Hailie and Hunter practically bubbling over with excitement.

“I’d say” Kamryn smiled “what’s the hold up?”

Marshall sneered “Little Miss Priss had to touch up her face, as if that's gonna help” he muttered.

“Play nice” Kamryn teased “after all it’s Christmas.”

“Yeah well Bah Humbug” He smiled “and you tell her to play nice. That bitch is the one who is always attacking me first, dammit.”

“Nah” she drawled “why would I wanna tell her to play nice? I think it’s cute.”

“Cute my ass” he said going to stand near the fire.

“Ready” Christie came breezing in followed by Proof.

“Bout time” Marshall muttered under his breath.

“What was that Marsh?” Christie asked giving him the evil eye.

“I SAID BOUT TIME” he stated loudly so she would understand “and I knew it wouldn’t help anyway I don’t think anything can” he sneered at her.

“Hey” Proof said chuckling “that’s my wife.”

“God help you” Marshall mumbled going to sit on the sofa.

Proof laughed and Christie glared at him. He squirmed a bit as she kept her evil gaze riveted on him. Man she is sexy when she’s mad Proof thought to himself and winked at her. They all gathered around the tree as Marshall pulled out a gift and handed it to Hailie.

“It’s Christmas Eve Hai not Christmas Day so you only get to open one” He said.

“K” she said with barely contained excitement.

Kamryn dug around under the tree and found Hunter’s Christmas Eve surprise.

“Same rules Mister” she said as she handed him his present.

They both tore at their packages. Wrapping paper flying everywhere. Hailie pulled out the cutest pair of Christmas Pajamas that she had ever seen and giggled as she held them up for inspection. They were purple PJ’s with white snowflakes scattered all over. “These are too cute” she smiled “Can I try them on daddy?” she begged her father.

“Absolutely Hai Hai” he smiled “but then it’s to bed for you”

“K” she smiled hitting the stairs at a run. Her new pajamas clutched to her chest.

Hunter managed to get the blasted wrapping paper off and tossed it aside. He pulled out a pair of Pokemon pajamas “Cool” he gushed looking at his brand new PJ’s “I love Pokemon” Hunter said excitedly “can I try mine on too?”

“Sure you can” Marshall laughed “but then it’s nighty night time for you too.”

Hunter didn’t have to ask twice. He was gone in a flash. PJ’s in hand.

Little M and Cheryl were sound asleep upstairs in Little M’s room so Marshall, Kamryn, Christie and Proof took this moment of solitude and started passing out a few gifts for each other.

Hailie and Hunter were back in a flash modeling their new Pj’s and after much oohhing and aahhing Marshall and Kamryn sent their angels off to dreamland.

The rest of the evening went by so fast and after a few gifts had been opened Proof and Christie (who were spending the night) got up to excuse themselves.

The family room was quiet as Marshall and Kamryn cuddled up next to the tree in front of the crackling fire.

“It’s Christmas Morning now” he whispered in her ear glancing at the clock that had just struck midnight.

“I know” she shivered as the feel of his warm breath dancing over her delicate ear sent chills running along her body.

“I have something for you” he whispered reaching for something in the pocket of his pants.

He handed her a long black velvet box and her heart began to flutter wildly in her chest “Oh Marshall, you didn’t have to” she whispered rubbing a finger absentmindedly over the velvet box.

“I wanted to” he whispered “open it.”

She opened the slim velvet box and gasped. There nestled in the satin lining hanging on a beautiful chain was a dog tag identical to the one he always wore. Tears sprung to her eyes as she fingered the priceless piece of jewelry. “I-I” she stuttered.

“Shhhhh” he whispered “I love you Kamryn and I wanted you to have this so you’d know how much you mean to me” he kissed the top of her head. “Read it” he whispered.

She lifted the dog tag from it’s satiny home and held it up to read the inscription. Engraved in one side it said *Property Of* she flipped it over to reveal *Eminem* engraved on the other side incrusted with diamonds. Her heart swelled to capacity and a single happy tear ran down her fragile cheek.

“I love you so much” she whispered sitting up and turning to look at him.

“I love you more” he said grabbing the dog tag and gently clasping it around her neck. It fell, landing in the swell of her breats and he rubbed his finger over the inscription and whispered “Mine” as he locked his eyes with hers.

“Always” she smiled as she leaned in to capture his lips and stake her claim as he had staked his.......

The End.
